Ranveer Allahbadia recently grabbed headlines for his controversial question on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent show. The YouTuber/podcaster was invited on the stand-up comedy show as a guest judge. On the show, Ranveer asked a male contestant a derogatory question as a joke. Allahbadia asked the male contestant, “Would you watch your parents have sex every day forever to get in and stop it forever?”
The question asked by Ranveer Allahbadia angered a lot of people online. Many questioned his values and how he presents himself as ‘holier-than-thou.’. A lot of people questioned the double standards of people like Ranveer, who gained fame on the internet. It looks like the criticism has reached and affected Allahbadia, as he apologised to people today.
Ranveer Allahbadia took to his Instagram page to share a video, apologising for his remarks. The BeerBiceps podcaster wrote, “I shouldn’t have said what I said on India’s Got Latent. I’m sorry.” In the video, Ranveer said, “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate; it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry. Many of you have asked if this is how I want to use my platform. Obviously this is not how I wish to use it.”
“I am not here to give any context, justification, or reasoning for whatever happened. I am just here for an apology. I personally had a lapse in judgement; it wasn’t cool on my part. The podcast is watched by people of all ages. I don’t want to be the kind of person that takes that responsibility lightly. Family is the last thing I would ever disrespect,” Ranveer said.
Ranveer added, “I’ve asked the makers to remove the insensitive sections from the video. All I can say is I am sorry, and I hope you forgive me.”
