Power Star Pawan Kalyan and Harish Shankar’s much-awaited Ustaad Bhagat Singh will be hitting the screens as an Ugadi special on March 19th. Today, the team celebrated the film’s pre-release event in a grand way, with a massive crowd gracing the occasion.
Producer Mythri Naveen said: “No matter how many big films we make, doing a film with Pawan Kalyan has always been a dream for us. On the 19th, that dream is going to come true. He worked continuously for 40 days to wrap up this film. He gave us dates non-stop for three months and completed the movie. When we thought of making a film with Pawan, we immediately thought of Harish Shankar. This will be a bigger hit than Gabbar Singh. This is a full-on entertainer from Pawan Kalyan.”
Mythri Ravi thanked Pawan Kalyan for making Ustaad Bhagat Singh a memorable film for their banner, and director Harish Shankar for putting in immense effort to recreate the Gabbar Singh magic.
Director Harish Shankar stated that he himself was the reason for the delay and also the preponement of the film. “I first imagined this movie as a kind of extension to Kushi. We started with the idea of two people who fall apart as students because of ego, and then meet again as lecturers in the same college, still continuing that ego. But I felt there wasn’t enough heroism in it and that it was limited to just fun, so I myself didn’t like it.
This Ugadi, it’s going to be ‘Ustaad Ugadi’. When I was in a very low phase, Pawan Kalyan came into my life like God and told me, ‘Let’s do a film.’ Pawan Kalyan literally poured his soul into this film. Parthiban’s screen presence is magical. He gave us a lot of suggestions. KS Ravikumar has done a very good character. Sreeleela’s energy is off the charts. Raashii also played her part beautifully.”
Pawan Kalyan made it clear that he will continue doing movies and expressed his love for cinema. “Cinema is what gave me the identity that helps me serve the people. I always want my producers to be in a good position. I want my films to bring happiness to my fans.
When we started this film, the producers told me it would be with Harish Shankar. Then the story changed, Covid came, and I moved deeper into politics. Even in such a tight span of time, we completed this film. We finished the major part of the movie in 45 days. Harish Shankar gave me the confidence that if I plan properly, I can still continue doing films.
Mythri Movie Makers have delivered big hits because they work very hard. Without Devi Sri Prasad, this film would not have had this level of energy. Thaman, who scored the music for OG, has given the background score for this film.
Sreeleela is a brilliant performer and dancer. That character has been written very well. There is a nostalgic feeling in one of the songs, and it will be a memorable character in her career. Raashii Khanna did the film without even listening to the story for my sake, and she did a fabulous job. KS Ravikumar and Parthiban have acted in this film.
Naveen was the USA distributor for Gabbar Singh. He always wished to do a film with me. If one of you became a director, that’s what Harish Shankar is. He comes from Karimnagar and he is an extraordinary director. While watching the film during dubbing, I wished that it should become as big a success as Gabbar Singh. The film will be engaging and entertaining.
Even if I am in politics, you cannot separate me from cinema. In South India, cinema is very crucial. I have no jealousy towards any hero’s success. When I see fan wars, I feel uneasy. It doesn’t feel like the right atmosphere. I want everyone to be well. Films should do well, and all should be happy. When I was going through a low phase, Bheemla Nayak gave me a big hit. Without fans, there is no Pawan Kalyan. I’m just two heartbeats away from you all.
In my films, I want entertainment along with devotion to the country and strong social awareness, all within a good commercial meter. Harish Shankar has strung all of that together like a beautiful garland.
If I plan correctly, I now have the confidence that I can still do films. If someone comes to me next time asking for a film, I’ll send them to Harish Shankar and Mythri.”
Pawan Kalyan changed the popular dialogue we heard in the trailer in his own words: “Mimmalni Preminche Gothram, Seva Chese Nakshatram.”
