Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a day-long conclave of NDA chief ministers and deputy CMs in New Delhi on Sunday to discuss, among other things, governance and best practices in NDA-ruled states.
Participants at the meeting will pass a resolution to congratulate the armed forces and Modi for the success of Operation Sindoor and another to laud the central government for its decision to conduct a caste enumeration in the next census, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, the in-charge of the ’s good governance department, said in a statement.
Around 20 chief ministers and 18 deputy chief ministers from all 20 NDA-ruled states will participate in the brainstorming session, the party said. BJP chief J P Nadda, Defence Minister and Home Minister will also attend.
A significant part of deliberations at the conclave, said Sahasrabuddhe, will be devoted to discussions and presentations by NDA CMs on the initiatives in their states.
Leaders, according to the party, will also deliberate upon forthcoming events such as the first anniversary of the NDA government after the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the completion of a decade of International Yoga Day and the 50th anniversary of the Emergency.
While the resolution on Operation Sindoor will reaffirm the ruling alliance’s hard stand on national security, the one on caste enumeration is expected to credit the Modi government for being the first to do so since independence and hail its commitment to social justice in contrast to “betrayals” of the backward classes by the Congress and its allies.
Meanwhile, during the NITI Aayog meeting on Saturday, BJP-led states backed a collaborative approach with the BJP-led Union government and its investments in their infrastructure.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini stressed upon a collaborative approach among states which could reach every household in the country.
Assam Chief Minister said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Assam was reclaiming its rightful role as a gateway to Southeast Asia. He said the state was reviving inland waterways, restoring connectivity and building infrastructure.
Rajasthan CM urged the Centre to allow the Pong Dam to be filled to its full potential so that the partner states may receive their rightful share of water.
Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi said projects worth `17,500 crore were in the pipeline to be sanctioned.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister requested a national-level plan for developing a sustainable drainage system in urban areas and the inclusion of lift irrigation under the guidelines of the PM Krishi Sinchayee Yojana. He said that due to Uttarakhand’s geographical conditions, only about 10 percent of the mountainous area is irrigated.
