After India launched multiple strikes against terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, multiple airports across northern India shut down their services for civilians until further notice. Multiple flights were also either cancelled or diverted in view of Operation Sindoor, launched by India in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Several airlines including IndiGo, SpiceJet, Air India and Air India Express confirmed the closures of multiple airports across the country through their official X handles.
Around 160 domestic IndiGo flights have been cancelled as of Wednesday morning, an official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI. At least 20 flights of various airlines have been cancelled at the airport.

Meanwhile, flights from multiple other airports have also been impacted. According to IndiGo Airline’s statement, flights to and from Jodhpur and Bikaner in Rajasthan, and Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh have been impacted due to airspace restrictions.
Further, Air India announced that all flights to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, and Rajkot have been cancelled for May 7 till 12 noon, pending updates from authorities.
The Indian defence forces on Wednesday carried out multiple strikes against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, two weeks after the Pahalgam terror attack which killed 26 people, mostly tourists.
“A little while ago, the Indian Armed forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed,” the Defence Ministry said in a statement at 1.44 am.
Following the strikes, Indian political leaders and ministers expressed solidarity with the defence forces for Operation Sindoor. Meanwhile world leaders urged for resilience and de-escalation of tensions between the two nations.
