Diljit Dosanjh is making headlines every day. When he is not belting out hits at concerts, he is making news for something that he has said. Some time ago, his statement on India’s infrastructure not being good enough for live concerts was met with varied reactions. And more recently, his meeting with PM Narendra Modi has become the talk of the town. There is no doubt that Diljit Dosanjh’s popularity is growing with each passing day. And Bollywood has taken cognizance of the same.
Previously, Diljit used to sing a few songs or give rights for remake for some of his songs for the films he was also starring in. Case in point (Soorma, Good Newz, Crew). However, that has changed. Diljit is being signed on as a singer for special numbers for movies. The more recent ones being Alia Bhatt’s Jigra and Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyya 3. And the trend is only going to catch up in 2025.
BollywoodLife has exclusively learnt that actors are now demanding at least one song sung by Diljit to be featured in their movies. Talking to BL, an industry insider revealed, “Actors are putting pressure on producers to have one Diljit song in their movies. If a brand-new song isn’t possible, they are okay with one of his song remixes.”
Telling us about a recent incident, he revealed that a young star demanded to add a song with Diljit. When the top honcho from the production house suggested that they should not overdo and cross their budget with this new song, the young star almost threw a tantrum and started delaying the remaining shoot schedule. That’s when the producers had to give in.
It is a known fact that a movie works only when there is enough buzz and it is being believed that a song from Diljit can work the magic and bring just the right kind of attention to the film. The singer himself is bombarded with offers which he cannot take due to ongoing and upcoming commitments. “He has been busy touring and has international shows coming up. Apart from that he has his commitments as an actor as well. Everyone seems to want a piece of him but there is only so much work one can do,” the source reveals.
Diljit is also slated to star in Border 2 with Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahaan Shetty and there are reports of him joining the cast of No Entry 2. Well, true to his name, Diljit has certainly won all hearts out there. Punjabi aa gaye oye and chaa gaye oye!
