Name tags, mostly with a ‘Star’ are most common in the Indian film industry. While there are actors who insist on having the tags used during their reference and also during the entry scene on the screen, there are some who wants to shed that ‘star’ tag and want them to be called just by their name.
Earlier actor Ajith made it clear that he doesn’t want to be called ‘Thala’ and even removed the official status for all his fan clubs. Recently, Kamal Haasan too has put out an official statement saying he doesn’t want to be called with titles anymore, say ‘Ulaganayagan’. Joining the club, Nayanthara requested all to call her just ‘Nayanthara’ and not ‘Lady Superstar’ anymore.
In her statement, she wrote that many have graciously referred to her as ‘Lady Superstar’ a title born out of fans’ immense affection and she owes them all for crowning with such a valuable title. She made a humble request to call her ‘Nayanthara’ because she feels that the name is what I hold to my heart. ‘It represents who I am – not just as an actor but as an individual’, she wrote.
‘Titles and accolades are priceless, but they can sometimes create an image that separates us from our work, our craft, and the unconditional bond we share with you – the audience’, she concluded.
