She said that Tabu insisted on listening to the script and cried as she loved the story. Makers thought that she would definitely say yes to the film. However, somebody informed Renu that when Tabu cries listening to the script, she never does that film. Later Tabu declined the offer. When asked why, she stated that she did not want to portray a mother of four children. She said, ‘My whole career is ahead of me, so Ravi ji, mujhe maaf kardo (Ravi ji, please forgive me)'”.
Post the film’s release, Tabu watched it with her family in Hyderabad. She informed her aunt that she was offered Hema Malini’s role. but she rejected. Her aunt scolded her for the same. Renu explained, “After two years of this conversation, when the film released in theatres, Tabu was in Hyderabad and she went to see the film with her aunt and uncle. She told them that she was offered the film but refused the role. Her aunt reprimanded her, saying, ‘Ye chhappal nikalke tumhare sir pe marungi. Why did you say no to this film?”.
