Shah Rukh Khan is known for his exceptional wit and humour. Not everyone understands it and some might not even like it. Years ago, during an award show, SRK joked about Neil Nitin Mukesh’s name and the New York actor told the superstar to ‘shut up’. It is one of the most controversial moments in the history of Bollywood award shows. So what exactly happened and what does the actor think of Khan?
In an interview, Neil Nitin Mukesh was asked about the incident and his thoughts on Shah Rukh Khan. The actor said, “I love him so much. I want to clarify that I would never say ‘shut up’, but it was a show and there were so many things at play there. That conversation is entirely different, and I am not even talking about that.”
In the same interview with Hindi Rush, Neil talked about people who showed disrespect to his stage name, which is an honour to his father Nitin and grandfather Mukesh (singers). He added, “My feelings towards my parents, my grandfather’s name, if I want to keep it alive, how I can make anyone understand that? I can understand it, my family understands it and it is more than enough for me. I will not try to make an outsider understand this. If they want to make a joke, let them. You are not Neil Nitin Mukesh. You don’t have such a legacy. So you will make fun of this. I feel proud that we are celebrating ‘100 years of Mukesh’. I know who my grandfather is.”
On the work front, he was last seen in the film Hisaab Barabar (2024), which was released on Zee5. The actor has not announced any new film so far.
