Yes, it it Priyanka Chopra who had recently revealed that she was roped in for the blockbuster Krrish, opposite Hrithik Roshan. The actress bagged the opportunity following an unexpected meeting with filmmaker Rakesh Roshan at a funeral.
Born in Jamshedpur, Priyanka had to move to different cities in India because of her parents’ careers in the Indian Army. After she won the Miss World title, Priyanka grabbed attention of Bollywood filmmakers. In 2002, she made her acting debut in the Tamil film Thamizhan. A year later, she made her Bollywood debut with The Hero: Love Story of a Spy.
Even though Priyanka faced difficulties, she was able to find appreciation for her film Andaaz, which helped her bag Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut, and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, where she was lauded for her flawless chemistry with Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. Priyanka also won hearts with her bold role in Aitraaz that helped her prove her acting prowess. It helped her bag first Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role.

Priyanka had won National Film Award for Best Actress for her flawless performance in Madhur Bhandarkar’s film Fashion. Later, Priyanka was seen in Kaminey and 7 Khoon Maaf, Barfi!, Mary Kom, Bajirao Mastani, Dil Dhadakne Do, and The Sky Is Pink.
Priyanka had recently revealed that was at a funeral, dressed in a white salwar kameez, when filmmaker Rakesh Roshan decided to cast her in Krrish. As Priyanka said, it was her understated appearance that left an indelible impact on Rakesh Roshan’s mind. “I was terrified that I would never get the role because the Priya in Krrish was super innocent, just not worldly, and had belief in the goodness of people, kind of person, while Sonia in Aitraaz was the complete opposite—she would eat you alive,” Priyanka had said.
After gaining immense popularity in Bollywood, Priyanka was keen on cashing in on international opportunities. In 2015, she made history by being the first South Asian to headline an American TV series with Quantico. She was also seen in several other international projects including Baywatch, The Matrix Resurrections, Citadel, among others.
