The actor is none other than the He-Man of Bollywood – . In the autobiography, Dilip Kumar – The Substance and Shadow, Dharmendra recalled how during his college days he broke into Saudagar actor’s home. He used to be believe that he and Dilip Kumar were siblings even though they are not related to each other. Dharmendra wrote, “For some inexplicable reason, I began to fancy that Dilip Kumar and I were siblings.” He then recalled how he showed up outside Dilip Kumar’s home and found no one guarding the gate. So he entered the house and walked up to Dilip Kumar’s room. He saw the actor sleeping on the couch and stood there admiring his favourite actor.
When Dilip Kumar woke up, he was startled to see a man starring at him while standing at his bedroom door. Dharmendra said, “As for me, I couldn’t believe my eyes: It was Dilip Kumar, my idol, in front of me. He called out to a servant loudly. Now scared, I ran down the staircase and bolted out of the house looking behind to see if I was being followed.”
Soon Dharmendra realised that his move was quite reckless and that he should have not intruded the privacy of the star even though there was nobody to stop him.
Later, Dharmendra met Dilip Kumar’s sister after winning a talent show and requested her to arrange for a meeting with the star. He told her that he firmly believed that Dilip Kumar was his brother too. He also shared how Dilip Kumar gave him a sweater when he visited his home as it was chilly and he was only wearing a thin cotton t-shirt. Such stories are worth sharing, aren’t they?
