Vibha Sachdev, Virat Kohli’s childhood teacher at the Vishal Bharti Public School, recalled his passion for the game at a young age. She claimed the star player to be very expressive, enthusiastic, and an active participant in school and inter-house activities.
“His eyes were very expressive. Virat was an active participant in all the school activities; he was an enthusiastic and eager participant in all the interhouse activities,” she said
She claimed that Kohli used to believe himself as the next Sachin Tendulkar of the Indian team, and added he used to make everyone smile.

“‘Ma’am, I will be the next Sachin Tendulkar of the Indian Team’ was the often-repeated quote, yes, at that time, sometimes it made us smile at the sheer grit and confidence of the wide-eyed boy,” Sachdev added. She claimed Kohli to be an above-average performer and felt he lost marks while giving more time for practicing cricket.

“Virat always scored well in his exams. He was an above-average performer, and the only time he would lose a few marks was when his practices took up his time,” Sachdev added.
Kohli studied in the Vishal Bharti Public School till the 9th standard, and Sachdev was his class teacher in the 8th grade. She added that Kohli used to say that he prepared for exams after his practice sessions, which was pretty often.
“‘I prepared for my exam late after I came back from my practices.’ It was something that we used to hear very frequently from him,” Sachdev claimed. She revealed Kohli to be a hard worker in sports and academics.
Sachdev said the teachers and other personnel in the school cooperated with him well. “He worked very hard to excel in both sports and academics, and the teachers at Vishal Bharti Public School, Paschim Vihar, fully understood his struggle and cooperated with him by giving him added guidance,” Sachdev concluded.
