Pooja Banerjee has a been a part of the TV industry for a long time. She has done TV shows like Kumkum Bhagya, Kasautii Zindagi Kay 2 and more. She also did reality shows. Pooja was recently in the news when her name got embroiled in a money laundering case. She and Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat were summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a Pakistani betting website’s money laundering case. It was being said that both the actresses have given their statements in a case involving a betting website that broadcast Men’s T20 World Cup matches illegally. Now, Pooja took to Instagram to clarify about this case.

She shared a note on Instagram where she said that she has been falsely accused in the case and the media did not even cross-check about the whole case with her. She shared the pictures of the notice she sent to a news portal for not cross checking with her and sharing the news.

She wrote, “Hello my dear well wishers, A Very Happy New Year to all of you. I wouldn’t have wanted to put this up as my first post of 2025 but sadly the last few days have been rather disappointing and filled with remorse. I was recently falsely blamed for a money laundering case, sadly the news was circulated by almost all the media pages and outlets with my name, picture and my credentials. I wasn’t aware of this news as I was in South Africa with my family when the false allegations were made without any comment from me or my team. I was disappointed because generally all the media people who were in contact with me while I was working as an artist, would normally take a quote before putting up the news or were always eager to know about the show and its fate etc , sadly the same people wouldn’t even check with me whether the reports were true or not.”

She added that she even tried to contact a few media. She said that a people few of them heard her, few behaved as if it’s not their responsibility to do a cross check on the news since it came from a reliable source. She said that her family members have been stressed about the news that came out about her.

She added, “I tried telling a couple of them that please take it as a request to change the news or at least claim that you’ve made a mistake , I do understand human error after all but most of them wouldn’t agree since agreeing to the fact that they are wrong is so against their ego.” She concluded by requesting the media to understand their responsibility that can help change the world.
