isn’t just popular for the characters she has played on the big screen, but also her bold nature. The actress has never showed any inhibitions in being vocal about her views. The popular actor has often used social media to express her thoughts on various topics. Her recent post on the ‘idea of marriage’ and ‘joint families’ has gone viral, especially amid the ongoing conversation around Sanya Malhotra’s film Mrs. and the issue of ‘toxic feminism’. Even though Kangana didn’t clearly mention any names, many feel that her post could be a subtle dig at Sanya Malhotra’s movie and Bollywood ‘distorting the idea of marriage’ through romantic films even though she didn’t take any names.

In a lengthy note, started by sharing that, while growing up, she never saw a woman who didn’t command in her house. Be it ordering everyone when to eat or when to sleep, or asking the husband about every penny spent. She wrote that whenever her father wanted to eat out with them, her mother would scold as cooking for family was the way of her controlling many things “including the hygiene/the nutrition of the food, elderly folks worked as nannies to her kids and emotional support system”.

Kangana further mentioned that marriages serve the best interests of the weak, especially the elderly and infants, rather than just being a means to seek attention or approval. The actress also cited the shastras, and emphasised how earlier generations would fulfil their duties toward parents and elders without questioning them.

She also stressed on the fact that people should stop generalising about Indian joint families and demonising the elderly. “Let’s stop comparing women of the house with paid labour also the joy of building a home and raising kids with forced labour,” she wrote.

Kangana Ranaut’s post did not end here and mentioned how Bollywood love stories have misrepresented the true essence of marriages. “Too many Bollywood love stories have distorted the ideas of marriages. Marriage should be how it has always been in this country, it always had a purpose and the purpose was, dharma which essentially means duty,” she added.

The actress also wrote that people should not ‘dismantle social institutions like marriages, our biggest strengths our joint families, let’s not endorse divorces, let’s not encourage younger generations to abandon older parents , or not have babies.’

Kangana Ranaut’s post has received mixed reaction on social media. Her post made its way to Reddit and netizens were quick to post strong comments. One of the comments read, “She is just scared that another curly-hair girl will usurp the throne. She did the same to Tapsee and now Sanya.” Another comment read, “This is just meaningless writing. Out of nowhere she just added dharma and all. In no vedas or any shastra there is anything mentioned that you need to get married to protect Dharma. There were women philosophers who lived their own way. Just adding, Dharma, Shastra makes no sense on any random topic.” Another comment read, “this is why nobody supports her. sanya was praising her so much just a few days ago.”
