IPL founder and former chairman Lalit Modi is in love, again. Lalit took to his Instagram handle on Valentine’s Day to drop a video montage that focused on his new love. With this, he confirmed his breakup with popular Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen. As evident from the post, Lalit Modi did not put out his partner’s name. And the photos shared beautifully captures the bond they share, For the unversed, they have been friends for 25 years. Lalit Modi was earlier married to Minal Modi. They got married in 1991 and stayed together until Minal died due to cancer in 2018.
While sharing the video, Lalit posted, “Lucky Once – Yes. But I got lucky TWICE. When a 25 year friendship turns to LOVE. It happened twice. Hope it does for you all too. #happyvalentinesday to you all.”
In 2022, Lalit Modi left many shocked when he posted photos with . He shared a string of photos taken during their vacation in Maldives vacation, and posted a message that read, “Just back in London after a whirling global tour #maldives #sardinia with the families – not to mention my #betterhalf @sushmitasen47 – a new beginning a new life finally. Over the moon.”
Lalit had also changed his Instagram bio after he announced his relationship with Sushmita. He had posted, “Founder @iplt20 INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE – finally starting a new life with my partner in crime. My love @sushmitasen47.” A few months later, he had removed Sushmita’s photos, and also changed his Instagram bio and profile. This led to rumours of their split.
In 2023, Sushmita Sen had spoken about her bond with Lalit Modi. In an interaction with Mid-Day, she had referred to it as ‘just another phase’. The actress was labelled a gold digger by trolls and Sushmita had mocked the accusations with a post on Instagram. A portion from the post read, “I dig deeper than Gold…and I’ve always (famously) preferred Diamonds!! And yes I still buy them myself!!!” Sushmita added, “The so called intellectuals with their idiosyncrasies….the ignorant with their cheap & at times funny gossip. The friends I never had & the acquaintances I’ve never met….all sharing their grand opinions & deep knowledge of my life & character…monetising the ‘Gold Digger’ all the way!!! Ah these geniuses!!!”
