A fixture previously voided will now be played once again in IPL 2025. Because of the rejigged second leg of the tournament, Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals is now Match No. 66 instead of the originally scheduled Match No. 58. Carded as a home game for PBKS, this match will instead be played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Punjab Kings have already qualified for the playoffs and will look at this match as a way of pushing themselves towards the top two. Their last game was against RR at this stadium itself. Tushar Deshpande had PBKS on the backfoot in the powerplay, but Nehal Wadhera and Shreyas Iyer stitched an important partnership. Shashank Singh eventually amplified Punjab’s amazing start into a record total.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi started with a blitz, putting up 76 runs in just 5 overs. But Harpreet Brar’s three-wicket burst stifled RR in the middle overs. Dhruv Jurel once again tried his best to take RR over the line, but they again fell short.
Delhi Capitals on the other hand, went down to Mumbai Indians in a game that confirmed their elimination from IPL 2025. At the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Ryan Rickelton and Will Jacks got starts, but Suryakumar Yadav rose to the occasion. Yadav put up an important partnership with Tilak Varma and then with Naman Dhir. MI’s resurgence from an ordinary start was lifted by a death overs burst where MI put up 48 runs in the last two overs.

DC’s chase, though, unravelled spectacularly. They lost three wickets in the powerplay, and although Vipraj Nigam played a resilient hand with the bat, it wasn’t enough. Mitchell Santner and Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets each to completely shut down the lower middle order and put MI into the playoffs.
The two sides came head to head once before in the tournament, in Dharamsala, but that game now stands voided with no records counted. Security concerns had forced an abandonment after Punjab had posted 122 in just 10 overs on the back of fifties from Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya. Less than 24 hours later, the tournament was temporarily suspended.
