In a high-stakes encounter in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) chased down 206 runs with ease, defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by six wickets. With this loss, LSG have been eliminated from the playoffs race.
SRH won the toss and opted to bowl first before LSG got off to a fiery start. with Mitchell Marsh scoring a rapid 65 off 39, which was well supported by Aiden Markram’s 61 off 38. Captain Rishabh Pant’s poor run continued as he got out for just seven runs before Nicholas Pooran added a quick 45 off just 26 balls to take LSG to a competitive total of 205/7 in their 20 overs. Eshan Malinga was the pick of the bowlers for SRH, taking 2 for 28, while debutant Harsh Dubey, Nitish Reddy and Harshal Patel also chipped in with a wicket each.
Chasing 206, SRH openers came out with intent as Abhishek Sharma smashed 59 off 20 balls, givin his team a thunderous start. Despite losing Atharva Taide for just 13 runs, SRH remained in control throughout. Ishan Kishan played a solid hand with a 35-run knock, and Heinrich Klaasen’s 47 off 28 ensured the momentum stayed with the visitors. Kamindu Mendis retired hurt after a brisk 32, but Aniket Verma and Nitish Reddy wrapped up the chase in 18.2 overs with ease.
Among LSG bowlers, Digvesh Rathi impressed with two wickets, while Shardul Thakur and William O’Rourke picked up one each. However, the LSG bowlers largely failed to contain the flow of runs.
