The 62nd match of is currently underway between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. RR skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bowl first by bringing in Yudhvir Singh into the XI in place of Fazalhaq Farooqi.
CSK posted a decent score of 187 runs in their 20 overs by a collective batting effort from the batters. CSK lost two early wickets in the powerplay, but youngster Ayush Mhatre played a quick knock to bring them back into the contest. He scored an impressive 43 runs off just 20 balls, which shifted the momentum in CSK’s favour.
But, CSK lost wickets at regular intervals which disrupted the run flow. In the middle overs, Dewald Brevis charged the RR bowlers with a brisk 42 off 25 balls, and Shivam Dube patiently scored 39 off 32 balls. The partnership of 59 runs ensured CSK reached a fighting total.
For RR, Akash Madhwal bowled the most economical overs. He bowled a brilliant spell by finishing with figures of 3 for 29 in his four overs. Yudhvir Singh also chipped in with three wickets, but was expensive and conceded 47 runs.
Both CSK and RR are already out of the playoff race by having secured only three wins each in the IPL 2025 season so far. CSK are currently placed tenth, while RR are ninth on the points table. This match marked RR’s final match of the season, and they will be eager to end on a high note. On the other hand, CSK have a chance to push RR to the bottom of the table if they manage to win this contest.
