Tollywood’s star producer Dil Raju experienced a Sankranthi season of mixed fortunes. While the first Sankranthi release, Game Changer, turned out to be a flop, causing inevitable losses, his other production venture, Sankranthiki Vastunnam, took the trade circles by surprise, raking in a staggering ₹250 crore and achieving triple blockbuster status.
However, Dil Raju admits that the 2025 Sankranthi season is a game-changing lesson for them.
During a press meet today, Dil Raju openly acknowledged the challenges he faced over the past four years. He expressed relief at finally getting back on track with Sankranthiki Vastunnam.
Subtly, he admitted to wrong doings with Game Changer and even seemed to take a dig at director Shankar. Emphasizing that a film’s budget does not guarantee success, he underscored the importance of strong storytelling over extravagant spending.
Dil Raju also reflected on his past successes under the SVC banner, recalling how they thrived by prioritizing content and collaborating closely with talented directors. However, he conceded that the focus had shifted toward setting big-name combinations, leading to a deviation from their original philosophy.
Looking back, he acknowledged that 2025 had imparted a crucial lesson.
When a journalist asked to respond to the collections poster controversy, Dil Raju admitted that certain weaknesses resulted in such posters. His comment hinted that he had to publicize the poster over some obligations.
Ultimately, Dil Raju reiterated that in today’s industry, content is king. Success no longer hinges solely on star power or director collaborations but on a film’s merit. Having navigated both triumph and failure this Sankranthi, he seems poised to reassess his approach and make necessary changes.
