In the last few months, the film fraternity has been shake up with a series of events. First it was the N Convention demolition, followed by Konda Surekha- Naga Chaitanya-Samantha controversy. Now, it is the Pushpa 2 issue, where the government vows not to permit ticket hikes and benefit shows henceforth.
Amidst this tense situation, something very interesting has happened and it has something to do with the Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh.
AP TDP President Palla Srinivasa Rao has invited the Telugu film industry to come to Andhra Pradesh. He stated that the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh will happily welcome the film fraternity if they’re ready to come to the state.
“Our deputy chief minister, Pawan Kalyan Garu had also recently remarked that it would be good if the film industry shift a part of its operations to Andhra Pradesh. We are committed to this world and are now welcoming the film industry to extend operations in our state. We have beautiful shooting locations and adequate conditions to work here” he stated.
While moving a part of the operations to Andhra Pradesh might sound exciting and logical, considering the major chunk of cinema revenues is generated from Andhra, there are certain logistical challenges here.
The film industry had the stationed in Hyderabad for the last few decades, and it would be logically challenging to alter operations to Andhra Pradesh, all of sudden. But with the government welcoming with open arms, things could slowly but surely change. It has to be seen how the bigwigs of Tollywood will react to this proposal.
It must be noted that farmer CM Jagan had also invited the film industry to come to Andhra Pradesh. But there was literally zero movement from the industry in this regard. It has to be seen if the situation will be any different now.
