ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 schedule: In only three days South Africa’s WTC 2023-25 win at the Lord’s Cricket Ground over Australia, the World Test Championship will enter its fourth edition as Sri Lanka and Bangladesh go up in the first Test at Galle, starting June 17.
Comprising a total of 71 matches and spanning the next two years, the WTC 2025-27 cycle will see the nine participating teams engage in some feisty challenges and also welcome several high-profile transitions. Two-time runners-up India will welcome a new era under the leadership of , starting with the Anderson-Tendulkar at Headingley on June 20, in the absence of former captains and .
Unbeaten since August 2024 under Temba Bavuma’s captaincy in nine consecutive Tests, the new world champions South Africa will play their first series of the new edition in Pakistan in October 2025. However, the Proteas fans back home will only be able to watch them play 15 months later in September 2026 when they host Australia for three Test matches.
Australia are slated to feature in a whopping 22 Tests in the forthcoming WTC cycle, closely followed by England with 21 games. The teams will face off in the Ashes later in 2025, hosted by Australia.
India are scheduled to play 18 Tests in the 2025-27 WTC cycle, with home series against West Indies, South Africa and Australia, besides away tours to England, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
