Following the recent release of two big movies including and , Bollywood is slowing it down a bit this week as it registers just one release – . Featuring as the lead, the action-thriller has been produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment. It puts forth the story of BSF officer Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey, who had led the operation to track the person responsible for 2001 terrorist attacks on the Parliament and Akshardham Temple. Emraan returns to the big screen after quite a long break – over a year and a half. His last theatrical outing was Tiger 3, which had a blockbuster opening with over Rs 40 crore on Day 1. Will Ground Zero also have an equally impressive start?

The trailer for Ground Zero had managed to turn a few heads and also got a pretty decent response. Even though it managed to catch people’s attention for all the right reasons, the buzz around the film has been super low. Going by the low buzz among moviegoers, Ground Zero is expected to earn 1-2 crore net at the Indian box office on day 1. With such a low start, the film will emerge as the second-lowest opening for Emraan in the post-COVID era. His film Chehre could collect just 50 lakh.

Emraan Hashmi’s Ground Zero was the first film in 38 years to get a red-carpet premiere in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, on April 18. In a recent chat with Firstpost, Emraan had said that they faced no difficulty in shooting in Kashmir before the Pahalgam attack. “We didn’t have any hiccups shooting there. It was a smooth-sailing shoot. We had a great team there, the locals who were very supportive. We had a landmark event that happened a few days ago in Srinagar where we did a red carpet event for the first time in 38 years. It went really well. More films and filmmakers should follow soon. More cinema halls should come up over there,” he had said.
