The Bengaluru police have registered a case against Geetha Vishnu, grandson of former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman and ex-MP D K Adikesavulu Naidu, for allegedly assaulting a man at Shangri-La Hotel in central Bengaluru.
Syed Sadique H, 40, an Umar Nagar resident and member of a club at the hotel, alleged that Vishnu, 35, assaulted and shoved him on May 19, causing injuries to his back. He also accused Geetha Vishnu of verbally abusing him. Sadique filed a police complaint around 10.45 pm.
However, Geetha Vishnu filed a counter-complaint against Syed Sadique at 11.30 pm. According to Geetha Vishnu, while he was changing clothes after a gym session, his sweat might have fallen on Syed Sadique. An angry Syed Sadique then punched him in the eye and threatened him with consequences if seen at the gym again, Geetha Vishnu claimed in his complaint.
“Cases have been registered based on both complaints. The incident reportedly occurred between 8 and 9 pm. Investigations are underway,” said a senior police officer.
Geetha Vishnu is no stranger to controversy. In 2017, he was arrested for allegedly ramming his SUV into another vehicle and a signboard of the Bruhat Mahanagara Palike near South End Circle, injuring six people including two children.
Police then claimed Geetha Vishnu was under the influence of marijuana. While admitted to Mallya Hospital for minor injuries, he escaped from police custody on September 29, 2017, with assistance from a hospital staffer.
In 2022, Geetha Vishnu’s father, industrialist D K Adi Srinivas Naidu, was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in a drug case.
