When it comes to fitness transformations in Bollywood, few can match Aamir Khan’s discipline and commitment. From bulking up for Dangal to chiselling down for Ghajini, Khan has become almost synonymous with drastic, goal-oriented body changes. However, the actor insists that none of it would be possible without a laser focus on food.
“I gave myself five months. Diet played the most important role. People think that just workouts can help. But if the diet is not right, you can’t do it. Diet is number one. Fifty per cent is diet. 25 per cent is workout and 25 per cent is rest,” in a 2016 interview with Bollywood Hungama about his transformations for his role.
His message? No matter how many hours you spend at the gym, results will be limited if your nutrition is off. And rest, often ignored, is just as critical.
Aamir’s 50-25-25 formula echoes what many experts stress today: fitness is more than lifting weights or running miles. According to Bharathi Kumar, dietician at Fortis Hospital, Nagarbhavi, , “To balance physical training and eating habits, you need a holistic plan that integrates both.” That includes food, fitness, and recovery.
She recommends starting with small, achievable goals—like exercising for 30 minutes a few times a week and filling your plate with fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and whole grains.
Kumar notes that the synergy between eating well and moving regularly unlocks accurate results. “By combining regular exercise with a healthy diet, you improve overall health, boost energy, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases,” she explains.
You’ll also feel the difference mentally—regular exercise and nutrient-rich meals are known to improve mood, sleep, and cognitive focus.
