Pahalgam terror attack has brought major trouble for a few in the showbiz industry. Netizens have been calling for boycott of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor’s upcoming movie Amid the reports, there were rumours suggesting that ‘ upcoming movie could also be in trouble because of its lead actress Imanvi. Some unverified claims suggested that Iman Esmail, popularly known as Imanvi, had her roots linked to Pakistan Army. However, the actress has now clarified the rumours.
On her Instagram, penned a lengthy note talking about the terror attack and the false rumours being spread against her. She started off by writing that her heartfelt condolences are with the families who lost their loved ones. She condemned the violent act. Further, she addressed the rumours around her identity and her family. She called it fake news spread in order to ‘create division and spread hate.’ She wrote, “Firstly, nobody in my family has ever been or is currently associated with the Pakistani military in any way. This and multiple other falsehoods have been fabricated by online trolls for the sole purpose of spreading hate.”
She further explained that she is a proud Indian American and speaks languages like Hindi, Telugu, Gujarati and English. She clarified that her parents legally migrated to the United States as youth and became American citizens. She added that she completed her studies at a university in USA. She noted that the Indian film industry had a great influence in her life and that she was grateful to be getting opportunities to work in the field.
In the end, ‘ co-star wrote, “As we mourn tragic loss of life, let’s continue to spread love and uplift one another” and promised to use the medium of art to create ‘awareness, empathy, and connection across cultures, people, and experiences.’
Talking about Fauji, the movie is said to be one of the most expensive movies, made on a budget of Rs 600 crore. It is slated to release in 2026.
