Imtiaz has now answered the question.

While talking to GQ India, the Rockstar director was asked if Shah Rukh imposed himself on . To this, Ali clarified that the rumours that he took charge of the movie were not true. SRK never imposed himself on the film. Imtiaz stated that SRK is a huge star with a massive fan base and has a lot of expectations to fulfil. The director stated that he didn’t write the story to serve that expectation. He didn’t consider the scale of Khan’s stardom.

Further, Imtiaz Ali added, “There are some boxes you have to check within your script to make it work, as many as you can, without ruining the soul of the film. With JHMS, we needed to be more clear about what he is longing for. It needed some more exposition, perhaps some flashbacks, and a more traditional structure to work.”

Meanwhile, even though the movie wasn’t loved by all, the music received lots of love. Pritam had composed the song for SRK and movie. Furthermore, this year, Imtiaz received immense praise for his Netflix film Amar Singh Chamkila, which stars Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra.
