is gearing up to regale fans on the big screen with . The action thriller is all set to release in theatres on January 31. Last year, the actor was seen in romantic drama Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya with and a year before that in on OTT (2023). Deva, directed by Rosshan Andrrews, presents Shahid as a fierce cop and his action avatar is something that the audience is looking forward to. The film’s teaser and trailer have been received well and fans are expecting to see a never-seen-before side of Shahid in the film.
Interestingly, the actor is not going all out to aggressively promote the film. BL tried to find out the reason and we learnt from an industry source that this is a deliberate attempt to keep the promotions low-key. “ and the makers know that they have an amazing character at hand. And they want to maintain the intrigue around his character, Deva,” said the source.
The actor is known to bring his own quirkiness to the characters he plays. Be it his role in and as Haider, Kabir Singh or Kaminey. In the case of Deva, fans are eagerly waiting to know more about the character and therefore Shahid is refraining from talking too much about the film or the role he is playing. “Overexposure during promotions often kills curiosity. Shahid knows exactly what he is doing. He wants the audience to wait and discover Deva and his madness on screen,” the source said.
This is not the first time that Shahid is playing a cop on screen. However, the last time he played one, it was back in 2013 in rom-com Phata Poster Nikla Hero. But his cop in Deva is totally different. After his action avatar was appreciated in Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bloody Daddy, it remains to be seen how his cop character in Deva impresses fans. The film also marks Malayalam director Rosshan Andrrews’ Hindi film debut and it will be interesting to see how best he is able to utilize Shahid’s acting chops in a larger than life action entertainer. The film also stars as the female lead and releases in cinemas on January 31.
It can be noted that played a cop in Kalees’ late last year and the film or VD’s character failed to impress the audience. One of the main reasons was the fact that fans found Varun to be a mis fit for the role or genre. Shahid on the other hand is known and loved for playing eccentric characters and Deva may open new doors and genre for him.
