Shah Rukh Khan’s Met Gala debut was nothing short of cinematic. After dropping hints in the weeks leading up to ‘fashion’s biggest night,’ the Jawan actor finally made history in custom Sabyasachi. His outfit of choice? An all-black suit featuring high-waisted trousers with kamarbandh, a black silk shirt, and a tailcoat. However, the luxury timepiece on his wrist caught our eye.
The Patek Philippe Grand Complication (Reference: 5304/301R) has a market value of Rs 21 crore and features an 18-carat rose gold case with a black alligator band. The fixed rose gold-tone bezel is set with 80 baguette diamonds, and it has a transparent dial with black hands and index hour markers — an analog dial type, and a sub dial displaying the moon’s phases. The watch has a fold-over clasp with a safety release. The alligator leather has square scales, is hand-stitched, and is shiny black.
The watch was not the only luxe accessory on his person, though. Khan’s ensemble was peppered with accessories crafted keeping the theme of Dandyism in mind. He carried the Bengal Tiger Head Cane, crafted in 18k gold, featuring sapphires, tourmalines, old mine cut diamonds, and brilliant-cut diamonds. The custom stack of jewels adorning his neck, which had a large K alphabet and an SRK pendant, was also from Sabyasachi’s in-house jewellery line.
“Calling one of the greatest superstars in the world, the designer said that he is “a cinematic hero, his blockbuster performances and leading-man charisma have created a legendary international fan following. My interpretation of the Black Dandy is demonstrating his super stardom on a global stage. Dressed in classic menswear with the maximalist flourish of Sabyasachi, Shah Rukh Khan is a magician, superstar, and icon. Period.”
In addition toKing Khan, other Indian celebrities who attended the Met Gala this year included Jonas, Kiara Advani, Isha Ambani, Diljit Dosanjh, Mona Patel, and designers Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
