Now that Mazaka is out in theatres and has received average reviews, the discussion about Chiranjeevi being approached for the project is back in the spotlight. In a recent interview, Mazaka director Trinadh Rao Nakkina also stated that Mazaka would have become lesser compared to Chiru’s stature. However, if Chiranjeevi was really approached for the film and if he declined the offer, most likely, we can assume that his decision worked in his favour.

With the failure of Bholaa Shankar, Chiranjeevi had become skeptical about the choices he is making. Bholaa Shankar brought a lot of criticism to Chiranjeevi for his encouraging cringe content. Immediately after Bholaa Shankar, Sushmita Konidela and People’s Media planned a film under Kalyan Krishna’s direction, with comedy as the core theme. The storyline may have been different from Majaka, but the treatment would have had a similar lighthearted approach.

However, after Bhola Shankar, Chiranjeevi realized that it was too risky to do another comedy at that point and ultimately decided against it after the final narration. In hindsight, this seems to have been a wise decision. Even if he did Mazaka kind of a story and became a hit, it would have landed Chiranjeevi in more movies in a similar genre. The fans does not want to see Chiru playing such roles and the latest generation is expecting the Megastar to play his age on the screen.

In such a scenario, the moderate success of the Mazaka genre would push Chiranjeevi to do more films in the same genre. But, since he took the U-turn in the right time, it is now helping him plan his career well.
