Chhaava is the new movie at the box office, which is getting a lot of traction. The film is based on the life of Sambhaji, the second ruler of the Maratha empire. Vicky Kaushal played the lead role and the film is directed by Laxman Utekar. Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna were also a part of the film’s cast. The film was released on 14 February 2025 in standard and IMAX formats. The film has become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 as well as the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025. Now, there is a growing demand to include the life history of Sambhaji in the text books.
After watching Chhaava, the common opinion that many expressed in the recent times that they were left in shock as to why the life of Sambhaji was not revealed to them prior. They expressed dismay at the way the historians excluded the life of Sambhaji from the school books.
Many are expressing their displeasure about reading the lives of Aurangazeb, Akbar, Babar and other Muslim leaders but not the real warriors of the Hindu land. With the film getting more attention from all corners of the country, the demand for including the life of Sambhaji in text books is also growing.
It is indeed true that the Indians were made to learn about the lives of many Muslim leaders and those who tortured our native kings but not the lives of true warriors of the land. At least, in the current times, with the growing usage of social media, the trend has to change.
At least, the film Chhaava opened the conversation now on what our students should read. Let us hope that things change in the coming days with films about true warriors shape up in the country.
