As we reported last night, the pioneer of the Indian music industry, AR Rahman, and his wife Saira Bhanu announced that they are ending their 29-year-long marriage.
While the news began trending on social media, Rahman’s Twitter page had an interesting and unexpected way of announcing the divorce. He created a hashtag on his own when sharing the news.
Earlier, Rahman tweeted, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts.
Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter.”
Then came the interesting part: Rahman ended the statement with the hashtag “#arrsairaabreakup.” Typically, details regarding divorce and breakups are handled in a serious and simplistic manner, but in this case, Rahman went all out and created a hashtag for the divorce announcement, amusing netizens, who have been replying to the tweet with their thoughts.
Rahman and his wife Saira got married in 1995, through an arranged marriage set up by Rahman’s mother. They were together for 29 years and had three beautiful children. It is sad that they couldn’t reach the three-decade mark.
