Anupamaa TV serial has brought fame to many. Rupali Ganguly is now one of the most loved TV celebs thanks to this show. Gaurav Khanna also became one of the most favourite ones thanks to Anupamaa. He played the role of Anuj Kapadia. Even after quitting the show, he is still loved as Anuj Kapadia. Fans are demanding his returning to the show. But in a recent interview, Gaurav Khanna shared that Rajan Shahi was asked to not cast him in the show.
In an interview with portal Pinkvilla, spoke about his casting in and revealed that producer Rajan Shahi was asked to not cast him in the show. And rather take a bigger name as the show is so big. However, Rajan Shahi showed trust in the actor and he did not prove him wrong. The actor revealed to the portal, “I wanted to prove to myself that I can do it. Secondly, I wanted to prove it to Rajan sir (Rajan Shahi), because he had faith in me. Many people told him, ‘Why are you taking him? Take someone else; there are bigger, better names. Your show is so big.’ Many people said this to him.”
Gaurav Khanna also recalled how he reached out to producer Rajan Shahi at midnight to discuss the details of his character. He mentioned that he chose everything for his character including outfits, sunglasses and more.
The actor was also asked about his return to the show. Gaurav mentioned that Rajan Sir hasn’t killed the character so anything can happen. He said, “It’s just that there’s no space in the story for him. But it is Indian Television. Anyone can be alive and there are many examples. However, that doesn’t mean that I’m coming back to the show. But never say never.”
