Actor Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Aditya 369 is hailed as one of the finest sci-fi movies ever made in India. Directed by the legendary filmmaker Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, the film was released in the year 1991, and it was India’s first time travel film till then.
Now, after more than three decades, Aditya 369 is gearing up for its re-release in cinemas across the Telugu states on April 4th. The film has been remastered in 4K resolution, and the theatrical trailer was released during the pre-release event last night.
The trailer offers a few fascinating glimpses of the glorious nostalgia and legacy the film had etched in the history of Telugu and Indian cinema. Balayya’s majestic performance as Srikrishnadevaraya, Singeetam’s magical exploration of the past and the future, and Ilaiyaraaja’s iconic soundtrack together make this film a timeless classic.
A sequel to Aditya 369, tentatively titled Aditya 999, has been in the pipeline for the past few years. The film was supposed to feature Balayya along with his son Mokshagna. However, this crazy sequel has been put on hold due to reasons unknown.
Mohini, Amrish Puri, Tinnu Anand, Silk Smita, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Suthi Velu, and others played key roles in Aditya 369. The film was produced by S Anitha Krishna under the presentation of the legendary playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam.
