Finally, the story of ‘Missile Man of India’ and aerospace scientist Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam will be a biographical film. The motion poster featuring Tamil Superstar Dhanush was unveiled at the Cannes Film Market on Wednesday.
Filmmaker Om Raut, who directed ‘Tanaji: The Unsung Warrior’, ‘Maidaan’ and ‘Adipurush’, will be helming the project.
The film will trace the humble beginnings of Kalam as a newspaper boy from a sleepy town of Rameshwaram to Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi. The story draws inspiration from Kalam’s work ‘Wings of Fire’.
The film is being bankrolled by Abhishek Agarwal under the banner Abhishek Agarwal Arts (which had also produced ‘The Kashmir Files) along with Bhushan Kumar’s production house T-Series.
Meanwhile in a statement with the media, Om Raut said in an era starved of true statesmen. “Kalam stood above politics. He was a man who was known for the power of education, excellence and indigenous innovation,” he added.
Soon after the makers dropped the poster of the film featuring Dhanush, netizens were quick to drub upon reading the name of Om Raut. Many commented that though it is quite surprising why the makers handed the project to Om Raut. The popular meme during the time of Adipurush ‘Om Raut, come to room,” has surfaced yet again. “Not confident in the director,” commented another user.
Meanwhile, fans are all praise for Dhanush’s appearance. Comments poured all across the social media stating that the actor’s Tamil background would lend authenticity to Kalam’s story. Since the actor is already to portray characters with emotion and intensity, the biopic might probably shape effectively in telling the compelling story of Abdul Kalam.
