Adani Total Gas Ltd (ATGL), the city gas distribution company backed by the Adani Group and France’s TotalEnergies, reported a six per cent year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹173 crore for the second quarter of FY27, while revenue from operations rose 34 per cent to ₹2,110 crore, driven by higher gas sales volumes and network expansion.
ATGL’s revenue growth was driven by a 12 per cent year-on-year increase in gas sales volumes to 315 million standard cubic metres (MMSCM) in the July-September quarter, according to the company’s earnings release. CNG volumes rose 17 per cent to 223 MMSCM, while piped natural gas volumes increased 3 per cent to 92 MMSCM. The company, one of India’s largest city gas distribution players, distributes compressed natural gas (CNG) for vehicles and piped natural gas (PNG) to households, commercial establishments and industries. It is also expanding into electric vehicle charging and compressed biogas as part of its broader clean energy portfolio.
The company added 16 CNG stations during the quarter, taking its network to 723 stations. Its domestic PNG connections expanded to around 11.81 lakh households, following the addition of nearly 40,000 connections. Its steel pipeline network also grew by 318 inch-km to 16,305 inch-km.
However, higher input costs continued to weigh on profitability. The company said the cost of natural gas rose 43 per cent year-on-year during the quarter, amid elevated Brent-linked and spot gas prices, the withdrawal of pooled-gas support and the continuing West Asia crisis. ATGL said its diversified sourcing portfolio, including domestic gas supplies, long-term contracts and market purchases, along with calibrated pricing, helped it manage cost pressures while maintaining supply reliability and customer demand.
The company’s earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 12 per cent year-on-year to ₹340 crore in the quarter. Beyond its core gas distribution business, ATGL is expanding its electric mobility and biomass operations. Its electric vehicle charging network reached 5,513 installed charge points across 26 States and Union Territories and 225 cities. The company also reported sales of 460 tonnes of compressed biogas during the first half of FY27.
ATGL operates city gas distribution networks across 34 geographical areas, while its joint venture with Indian Oil Corporation, Indian Oil-Adani Gas Private Ltd, operates in another 19 areas. Together, the businesses give the group a presence across 53 geographical areas.
Alongside the results, Adani Total Gas announced a change in its leadership, with Chief Executive Officer Sanjay Pandita set to take over as Executive Director and CEO from November 1 for a three-year term. The appointment follows the superannuation of Suresh P Manglani, who will cease to be Executive Director and key managerial personnel at the close of business on October 31.
Pandita brings more than 25 years of experience across natural gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and emerging low-carbon energy solutions. Before taking over as CEO at ATGL, he held leadership roles at Reliance Industries/Jio-bp, Mahanagar Gas and Gujarat Gas, and previously worked at Nayara Energy. His experience spans city gas distribution, fuel retailing, LNG infrastructure and clean energy initiatives, as ATGL expands its gas distribution network and diversifies into electric mobility and compressed biogas.
