The drug cases are shaking the Malayalam film industry currently. After Shine Tom Chacko escaped from a drug raid, and fresh allegations against Sreenath Bhasi, the sector is under the radar again. However, in a new development, the Kochi police authorities arrested Shine Tom Chacko under different sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The police officials interrogated Tom Chacko for over four hours in connection with a drug case. Later, he was booked under Sections 27 (consumption of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances) and 29 (abetment and criminal conspiracy) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
However, the charges are bailable. The police officials primarily questioned him as to why he escaped from the hotel, upon witnessing the cops at his doorstep. But, the reports say that Chacko answered that he was not aware that it was police at his doorstep and mistook them for ruffians, planning to assault him.
It is known that the actor was acquitted earlier this year in a 2015 drug case.
