The last few months have been eventful for RPG Life Sciences with revenues crossing ₹200 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2026, besides the launch of diabetes and obesity drug semaglutide in October, said Managing Director Ashok Nair.
But the months ahead will see the pharmaceutical industry confront the issue of steep trade margin concerns — but Nair said, he did not see any material impact on sales or margins. The 30 percent margin caps mandated by the Centre on 137 cancer non-scheduled drugs is across the supply chain and would possibly impact hospitals, he added.
RPG LS’ medicines featured in the Centre’s list of generic drugs that saw a drop in prices following the trade margin cuts by the government — its brand of Bevacizumab (400 mg injection), for example, saw prices dropping from ₹69,852.12 to ₹13,512.00; its generic Palbociclib (125 mg capsule) prices dipped from ₹40,421.33 to ₹2,720, according to the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority.
“We were always supplying it…every company used to give it at a particular rate to the hospital, expecting that the hospital will pass on that benefit to the patient,” Nair said, adding that making cancer treatment more affordable, would also widen patient access. “The change mainly affects hospital level pricing, our own selling prices stays broadly the same. So we don’t see much revenue dilution and margin dilution as far as the organisations are concerned,” he explained.
RPG LS revenue from operations grew 16.5 percent to ₹211.6 crore, for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. Further, it said, acquired sites contributed ₹0.5 crore in Q2 under review, and full revenue contribution from both sites would start from Q3 onwards, due to closure in end-September. Its net profit for the quarter under review was down about 37 percent, at ₹23.29 crore, as against ₹36.85 crore in the same period last year. The dip was due to a one-time acquisition cost, he said.
On the creation of RPG Active Pharma and the acquisitions of Actis and Raghava, Nair said, it was an important step in its Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients strategy, and the focus was now on integration and value creation.
