Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Kerala emerged as the key markets for Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd’s rooftop solar business in the first half of FY27, as the company added more than 168,530 installations during the period, a 50% year-on-year increase.
Uttar Pradesh led the company’s installation drive, with 44,014 rooftop solar installations adding around 172 MWp of capacity in the six months ended September 2026. Maharashtra followed with 22,165 installations and nearly 100 MWp, while Rajasthan recorded 21,275 installations, contributing 99 MWp. Kerala added another 15,477 installations, with around 65 MWp of capacity.
Tata Power Solaroof, the rooftop solar division of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), said strong state-level performance contributed to adding 801 MWp of rooftop solar capacity in H1 FY27, up 25% from 639 MWp in the corresponding period of FY26. The company added 88,397 rooftop solar installations in the July-September quarter, up 33% YoY from the 66,447 installations recorded in Q2 FY26. Capacity added during the quarter stood at 426 MWp, up 15% from 369 MWp a year earlier.
The latest additions have brought Tata Power Solaroof’s cumulative rooftop solar installations to 575,000, with total installed capacity crossing 5.67 GWp across residential, commercial, and industrial (C&I) segments nationwide.
While Uttar Pradesh was the largest contributor to installations during H1 FY27, Maharashtra has the highest cumulative capacity among the key states, with 73,578 installations aggregating 1,041 MWp. Uttar Pradesh has recorded 116,254 cumulative installations, with a total capacity of 528 MWp. Kerala has contributed 69,734 installations, aggregating more than 310 MWp, while Rajasthan has recorded 44,798 installations with a cumulative capacity of 390 MWp.
The company said the performance across these states highlights the growing adoption of rooftop solar across major residential and C&I markets.
