Cristiano Ronaldo has left Portugal’s training camp on the eve of Thursday’s UEFA Nations League match against Denmark. The decision followed a press conference in which coach Jorge Jesus denied any rift and said the captain had not refused to train. Hours later the Portuguese Football Federation confirmed Cristiano Ronaldo missed Wednesday’s final session at Copenhagen’s Parken Stadium.
The 41-year-old then posted on X that he would tell the country the truth “in due time.”Portugal sit top of Group A4 with six points from two matches. Denmark host them at Parken on Thursday, 1 October.
Cristiano Ronaldo posted this statement on X: “After the National Team Coach’s press conference, and following a conversation with the President of the Portuguese Football Federation, I made the decision to leave the National Team camp. In due time, I will tell the truth to all Portuguese people about the reasons that motivated my departure from the national team, to which I have always dedicated myself. Now is the time to wish good luck to Portugal and to all my teammates, without exception.”
