Canon India is expanding its retail and service footprint, targeting more than 10,000 resellers and retailers by the end of next year, from around 6,000 currently, as it looks to tap growing demand beyond major cities.
The company is seeing faster growth in Tier-2, Tier-3 and Tier-4 cities, driven by demand from households, students, MSMEs and institutions. While metros and Tier-1 cities continue to account for a higher share of absolute revenue, Canon expects emerging markets to gradually increase their contribution. B2B and B2C currently contribute nearly equally to its business.
Alongside its retail expansion, Canon India is also seeking to grow its non-imaging businesses, including surveillance and security, medical diagnostic imaging and industrial printing, over the next two years.
In imaging, Canon held a 31 per cent share of India’s digital interchangeable-lens camera market in 2025, according to the company’s internal estimates. Globally, it has held the No. 1 position in the segment for 23 consecutive years.
Consumer printing has also maintained sustained double-digit year-on-year growth, with Canon India targeting a 30 per cent share of the inkjet market.
