The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has suspended the licence of Seven Seas Hospitality Pvt Ltd for serious non-compliances observed during inspection of the premises. The company has been directed to cease all food business activities. About 74 kg/litres of non-compliant food articles were destroyed on-site post inspection.
Non-compliances included poor hygiene and sanitation conditions, fungal growth on food materials and pest-control deficiencies.
“Poor hygiene and sanitation conditions were observed, including water stagnation, foul odour, filth and inadequate housekeeping in food preparation areas,” FSSAI said in a social media post.
Deteriorated food materials were found, including fungal growth on tomatoes, papaya, jaggery and cashew nuts, rotten capsicums and blackened, degraded cooking oil. “Serious food storage deficiencies” were observed, including inadequate segregation of meat and vegetarian foods, improper meat storage and condensation dripping onto food items in cold storage units, it noted.
Major infrastructure and pest-control deficiencies were observed, including refrigeration leakage, excessive ice deposition, plaster flaking, inadequate cold storage, poor ventilation and lighting, and presence of cockroaches and house flies.
The FBO achieved a compliance score of only 30 per cent, classified as “Non-compliance”.
“The FSSAI Licence issued to M/s Seven Seas Hospitality Pvt Ltd has been suspended with immediate effect,” it added.
