With the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) initiating action against some online platforms over sale of three products of Milky Mist Dairy Food Ltd which were found to be making non-compliant product claims, the company said it has “initiated revisions” to the relevant packaging and product information on e-commerce platforms.
Milky Mist Fresh Low Fat Cream, Farm Fresh Curd and Greek Yoghurt were the three products flagged by the FSSAI.
“Milky Mist Dairy Food Ltd received a notice from FSSAI seeking clarification on certain product claims, packaging representations and product information. We have submitted our response and initiated revisions to the relevant packaging and artwork, as well as updates to product information and images on e-commerce platforms. We remain committed to providing consumers with clear and accurate product information and complying with applicable regulations,” a company spokesperson told businessline.
The food safety authority on Wednesday said it has initiated penal action against key e-commerce and quick commerce platforms over sale of some products that were found to be carrying misleading and non-compliant product claims. In its social media post, it outlined that penal action has been initiated against Swiggy Instamart and BigBasket for sale of Milky Mist Fresh Low Fat Cream, Farm Fresh Curd and Greek Yoghurt over “misleading claims and non-compliant product claims”, it stated. The regulator also said it is initiating action against platforms for sale of Happilo Premium Date Bites (Zesty Orange). It also flagged sale of dhatura seeds or fruits through online platforms.
