Jio users can now enjoy 5G Standalone (SA) roaming while travelling internationally to the US as the Indian telco partners with US-based T-Mobile to enable “the world’s first” such 5G service, enabled through interoperability with Syniverse.
With this, Jio users on T-Mobile networks can enjoy 5G-enabled data and voice roaming while T-Mobile users can enjoy the same on Jio’s network. Claimed to be the ‘first-anywhere-in-the-world,’ by the companies, the new offering delivers faster speeds, lower latency and more reliable connections, also enabling Internet-of-Things (IoT), real-time communications and immersive technologies.

The offering is built using Syniverse’s homegrown SEPP safety capabilities, used especially for international roaming.
