Mother Dairy has set up its first dedicated butter chiplet manufacturing line in Junagadh, Gujarat, with an annual production capacity of 550 tonnes, as the dairy major looks to expand its presence in the butter segment.
The new line has been established at Mother Dairy’s existing milk processing facility in Junagadh and will supply butter chiplets to markets across the country, a company official told the businessline on Saturday. “We have put up a new infrastructure which will help us produce butter chiplets. This is a new line which we have set up in Junagadh where Mother Dairy already operates a milk processing facility. This line has a an annual manufacturing capacity of 550 tonnes,” the official said.
“This is our first butter chiplet unit in the country and we will be supplying across the country from this facility,” the official added. The facility, Junagadh Dairy, is located in the Gandhigram area of Junagadh district and operates under Mother Dairy Fruit and Vegetable Pvt Ltd.
The move comes as Mother Dairy, a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), expands its product portfolio with the launch of 10-gram butter chiplets. The single-serve format is aimed at offering greater convenience to consumers while allowing the company to strengthen its footprint in the packaged butter market. The Junagadh investment also gives Mother Dairy a dedicated domestic manufacturing base for the new format, with the company planning to distribute the product nationally from the Gujarat facility.
