Chemplast Sanmar on Monday informed exchanges that the Chief inspector of the Factories, Puducherry has issued an order “prohibiting further usage/operation” of their Ethylene-Di-Chloride (EDC) manufacturing plant in the Karaikal facility after a fire incident at the plant on July 17.
“…the Inspector of Factories, Puducherry had inspected the said plant and issued an order dated July 19, 2026 prohibiting further usage/operation of EDC Plant and to obtain revoke order with the approval of the Chief inspector of the Factories, Puducherry after complying all directives issued under the said prohibition order,” the company said.
“The company is undertaking necessary corrective actions and is in the process of submitting a compliance report with action plan for revocation of the said order,” the company said.
