Priyadarshan’s Hera Pheri 3 has been surrounded by controversy ever since it was announced. Fans were excited to see Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal reunite, but ongoing legal issues have put the film’s future in doubt. Amid this uncertainty, writer Rohan Shankar spoke about the situation and shared that despite the chaos, Priyadarshan remains focused on his work.
Shankar revealed that although he had initially written the teaser and was expected to be involved in the project, he is no longer attached due to the legal complications. He said, “I was in talks, and it was supposed to happen, but it didn’t because of legal issues. Hopefully, if Hera Pheri 3 happens and if Priyadarshan sir is there, maybe I will be too.”
Meanwhile, the legal trouble around the film continues to deepen. A South-based production house has approached the Madras High Court, questioning whether Hera Pheri 3 can even be made. They claim that producer Firoz Nadiadwala only had the rights to remake Ramji Rao Speaking once, which resulted in the 2000 film Hera Pheri. The company has alleged that the sequel of Phir Hera Pheri and any further continuation may exceed those rights, turning the matter into a serious legal dispute that now raises doubts about the third installment viability.
