The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday released the first list of 88 candidates contesting in the Assam Legislative Assembly elections, scheduled to be held on April 9, 2026.
Assam Chief Minister is set to contest from the Jalukbari constituency, while Pradyut Bordoloi, who on Wednesday, will be contesting from Dispur.
Bordoloi, a two-term MP from Nagaon and a multiple-term former minister in Tarun Gogoi-led Congress governments in the state, is one of the most senior leaders in the Assam Congress. He had submitted his resignation to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge late Tuesday.

Releasing the list, the BJP’s Central Election Committee granted its approval on 88 names.
