Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener went bonkers against Gujarat Titans (GT) inside the powerplay in Match 67 of IPL 2025 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on May 25.
GT left-arm pacer Arshad Khan came in to bowl the second over of the powerplay. After picking two runs on the first ball, Mhatre smashed the second, a short of length delivery, for a maximum over long-on. The 17-year-old cleared his front leg and lofted the ball for another six over mid-on on the next ball.
Arshad then tried to push the ball outside off stump but the right-hander drove it wide of mid-off for a four. The fifth ball was bowled at full length and was dispatched for another four over mid-wicket. Arshad bowled a short ball, but the youngster got on top of the bounce to hit it over fine leg for a maximum. The over progression read 2, 6, 6, 4, 4, 6, totalling a massive 28 runs as CSK maximised the powerplay.

Why is Ravichandran Ashwin not playing in GT vs CSK Match67?
Meanwhile, the Shubman Gill led team have already qualified for the playoffs and are currently at the top of the points table with 18 points. They will aim to win the match in front of their home crowd at Ahmedabad and solidify their position at the top of the table as the race for top-two heats up. On the other hand, CSK have already been eliminated from the tournament and are set to finish at the last position in the points table for the first time in the history of the league.
