Mahesh Babu’s film ‘Khaleja’ is generating a strong buzz in social media circles as the film is all set for re-release on May 30.
Going by the advance bookings of ‘Khaleja’, as many as 62,000 tickets have been sold within the first 24 hours. The statistics say that the tickets of Khaleja surpassed the previous record held by ‘Ghilli’ for south Indian releases.
Given the hype and craze among Mahesh Babu fans, ‘Khaleja’ is expected is expected to achieve a record breaking opening day for a re-released film in the country.
So far the highest grossing re-released film in India is ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ starring Harshavardan Rane. The film was originally a box office disaster but later ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ proved successful for the makers in its re-release run at the box office collecting a whopping Rs 33 crore in India and worldwide gross of Rs 53 crore.
Tumbbad takes the second place with Rs 38 crore while Ghilli occupied third place with Rs 27 crore.
For ‘Khaleja’, the pre-sales have fetched more Rs 1 crore in Hyderabad alone. The industry pundits predict that the film has set a new benchmark with the numbers and stats of pre-rerelease business. However, whether the film will break the records of other films depends on the post-release numbers. Meanwhile, cinephiles cant wait to witness it on the big screen and are optimistic that ‘Khaleja’ might have a successful rerun.
