English cricketer has lavished massive praises on star Indian batter Rohit Sharma. Buttler, who recently hung up his boots in captaincy, has stated that he is largely impressed by the way Rohit has led the Indian cricket team in the last few years. Buttler further said that he has become a fan of India ODI captain after what he has achieved as a leader in a very short span of time.
Appearing on an interaction with Kookaburra Cricket India, Buttler was asked which cricketer in the country has had a huge impression on him in the recent past. “Which Indian cricketer has impressed you the most over the last few years?” the interviewee questioned.
“Rohit Sharma, in the way he has captained the country & I think the way he has played, I am a big Rohit fan,” he replied.

Both Buttler and Rohit are currently busy playing in the Indian Premier League 2025. While the Englishman is representing Gujarat Titans, Rohit is busy with Mumbai Indians – a team that he has led in five title wins. Both the top-order batters are in tremendous form as well. Buttler has 533 runs in 12 innings, whereas too is enjoying his time this season with 305 runs in twelve games he has played so far.
Notably, both GT and MI have qualified for the Playoffs, and have a real good chance of adding up yet another trophy to their respective cabinets. The five-time champions last won a title in 2020, but since then, they haven’t looked at their best. However, this season, under Hardik Pandya, the side looks determined to lift their sixth championship, which could make them the team with most titles ever won, a record they jointly hold with Chennai Super Kings right now.
GT, on the other hand, have qualified for their third Playoffs in only the fourth season they have played. They won the IPL in 2022 – their debut year, while made it to the Finals the following year. After a sloppy season in 2024, the Shubman Gill-led side has bounced back and have almost looked unbeatable so far. It will be interesting to see how both MI and GT go about their business in the Playoffs.
