After days of speculation amid rising geo-political tensions, Alia Bhatt put doubts surrounding her attendance at rest by finally making her Cannes Film Festival debut last night. Bhatt attended the closing ceremony in custom Schiaparelli haute couture. The ensemble featured a corseted bodice, a cinched waist and intricate white floral embroidered detailing along the expanse of the fabric. A layered tulle train added a touch of drama to her look.
Bhatt kept the rest of her look neat with a slick back updo, and curled tendrils gelled to her forehead. Styled by Rhea Kapoor, she opted for pearl studs from Birdhichand Jewellers, a peachy eyeshadow and blushed cheeks, pairing the outfit with custom heels from Rene Caovilla.
Speaking at media interactions, she said, “There’s something absolutely special about firsts — and I’m so excited to make my Festival de Cannes debut this year, an iconic celebration of cinema and self-expression. It is such an honour to represent L’Oréal Paris at the Festival with this year’s theme, ‘Lights, Beauty and Action.’ To me, beauty is about celebrating individuality, confidence and self-worth. It’s limitless, it’s unique. I’m proud to stand with a brand that celebrates every woman’s journey and empowers them to shine in their own light.”
Setting the Internet abuzz, Bhatt walked the carpet with the confidence of a seasoned Cannes attendee. Fans poured their love in the comments underneath videos and posts. While one user said, “Stayed up so that I could watch these pictures as soon as you post, you look gorgeous. You were worth the wait!🔥❤️,” another wrote, “How can someone look so gorgeous without any effort.. Ur totally worth it.”
Hawk-eyed netizens even spotted a kaala tika behind ear, popularly considered a symbol to ward off evil and negative energy in Hindu custom.
For her second red carpet appearance, the Raazi actor slipped into a sculpted black Armani Privé gown to attend the L’Oréal Lights On Women Award ceremony at the Cannes Film Festival.
A bejewelled hairnet and matching dark blue sapphire drop earrings and ring completed her red carpet glam. Bhatt’s , nude lips and feathered brows kept the palate clean and let the outfit do all the talking.
Alia’s look was dedicated to the L’Oréal Paris initiative that started back in 2021 to honour promising female short filmmakers as part of their annual award event that takes place in the French Riviera every year. According to the website, “The award attempts to create a path for women in film to advance their careers while also addressing the industry’s under-representation of women.”
While some fans were absolutely floored by her appearances at the French Riviera, calling her the “Principal of the university off SERVING LOOKS,” others critiqued her signature bare faced look: “Alia looks stunning but she should really ditch the clean girl look sometimes..a bold lip for this look would’ve been stunning,” said an Instagram user.
We can’t wait to see what the Bollywood diva has in store for future red carpet moments.
